Responsive Legal Support for Families in Oklahoma

Attentive family law attorney handles divorce, child custody, and child support cases

A domestic issue such as divorce or child custody is emotionally difficult for all parties involved. At Stephanie K. Fryar PLLC, in Oklahoma City, I provide clients throughout Oklahoma with compassionate representation at every turn until they reach a favorable resolution that allows them to move forward. When you’re a parent whose marriage is ending, I will work to preserve your child’s best interests while protecting your parental rights. And for all divorcing clients, I will press for the right to a fair division of marital assets.

Compassionate counsel for divorcing clients in Oklahoma

Since Oklahoma is a no-fault divorce state, you do not need to prove that your spouse committed any wrongdoing to file for a dissolution of marriage, but you must have lived in the state for at least six months immediately prior to filing.

I can assist you in filling out and submitting paperwork accurately and on time. In addition, I can help you draft a comprehensive divorce agreement that explains how you and your spouse plan on handling property division, alimony, and child custody issues. If you can’t reach an agreement on any of these matters, I will fight passionately on your behalf in court.

Assistance drafting premarital agreements

Premarital agreements have become increasingly common as a way for spouses to manage their financial affairs and settle them in advance in the event the marriage doesn’t last. In many cases, prenuptial agreements actually foster a sense of trust between spouses. If you are considering a prenuptial agreement, I review your circumstances and help you create a detailed document that clearly lays out the obligations and expectations of each party.

Skilled guidance for child custody and support issues

Throughout Oklahoma, I am quickly earning a reputation for skillfully resolving the following domestic matters:

  • Child custody — Depending on your circumstances, the judge may award either parent physical or legal custody. Whenever doing so is in the child’s best interests, the court will decide in favor of an arrangement that awards some form of custody to both parents. I strive to minimize the emotional trauma your case has on your children while also advocating for your parental rights.
  • Visitation — Visitation is simply a plan for how you will divide parenting time. I can help you draft a visitation schedule that accounts for specific dates and times, including holidays, special events, weekends, and birthdays. If the court feels that interaction with either parent would be emotionally or physically harmful to the child, visitation may be limited or denied altogether.
  • Child support — Child support is money paid from the noncustodial parent to the custodial parent for a child’s welfare. I am well versed in Oklahoma’s child support guidelines and can help you calculate what your monthly payments are likely to be. Oklahoma, like all states, understands that support orders may need to be modified when a parent’s circumstances change substantially. I can help you to request a modification in support payments when necessary.

Due to the sensitive nature of family law cases, they can be difficult to resolve without legal representation that is both professional and compassionate. You can count on me to support and guide you every step of the way so that you’re finally able to move on to the next chapter in your life.
